Novice Class

Basic Obedience and Manners for adolescent dogs are the main goals for this class. Remedial Socialization and other topics are also covered.

Details

Novice is for dogs 5-9 months old. Class is $160 for 8 weeks. First session is for people only (no dogs), unless all enrolled students in your session are returning students.

Curriculum

  • Basic Obedience: Sit, Down, Come, Wait, Stay, Release, Heel, etc.
  • Manners: Jumping, Leave It, No Bite, etc.
  • Remedial Socialization: People, Place, Dogs, Smells, Sounds, etc.
  • Puppy-Raising Issues for adolescents: Teething, Complete House Training, Inappropriate Chewing, etc.
  • Topics: Safety, Nutrition, Grooming, etc.
  • Other Adolescent-specific Issues: Developmental Stages, Hormones, etc.

Requirements
  • 5-9 months old at the start of class --OR--
  • Successful Completion of our Puppy Kindergarten Class
  • Bordetella (aka "Kennel Cough") Vaccination; given at least 3-4 days before class
  • DHPP Vaccination, kept up to date throughout the class
  • Rabies Vaccination
  • No communicable diseases (kennel cough, fleas, etc.)
  • Dogs in heat cannot attend class while spotting
